The Darjeeling Toy Train

We boarded the train for Darjeeling at Kurseong. The train consisted of the engine and 3 tiny cars.

When the train started moving, it led straight through the town.

Sometimes the shops were so close we could have reached out and touched them.

Once out of Kurseong, it chugged along the side of the hill, through forests and villages.

We often were treated to a nice view of the surrounding hills.

Along the 3 hour journey to Darjeeling, I took some video to give you all an idea of the relaxed pace of the journey; I ended up catching the locals having some fun with the train.

As we neared Darjeeling, we caught sight of a huge Tibetan Buddhist monastery perched on a hill side.

We pulled into Darjeeling shortly after dark (hence no pictures!). We threw on our bags and wondered into the town to search for our guesthouse.
